Multi-brand help center: how to run one knowledge base for many brands
A multi-brand help center is one knowledge base system that serves several separately branded help sites. Each brand gets its own domain, logo, colours and articles, but your team edits everything from one account, and articles shared between brands are written once.
Companies need one when they sell more than one product, run white-label versions of a product for partners, or (as agencies) look after help centers for several clients.
Three ways to build it
| Approach | How it works | Typical cost for 3 brands | Main problem | |---|---|---|---| | A separate tool per brand | Each brand gets its own subscription | 3 × the tool's price | Content is copied by hand and drifts apart | | One tool, extra site per brand | One account, each extra site billed | Base plan + a fee per site (e.g. GitBook $65+/site, KnowledgeOwl +$50/knowledge base) | Cost grows with every brand | | A multi-brand platform | Several branded portals included in one plan | Multibase: $49/mo for 3 portals | Fewer integrations than big suites |
Prices are list prices billed annually as of October 2026. Full numbers, sources and a slider are on the pricing comparison page.
What to check before you choose
- Is white-label included or gated? Some tools only remove their own branding on a higher tier.
- Do brands share content? If 60% of your articles are the same for every brand, you want shared content with per-brand overrides, not copies.
- Who edits? Per-seat pricing makes occasional contributors expensive.
- Languages. If brands serve different markets, check how translation works and what it costs.
- Custom domains. Each brand should live on its own domain (
help.brand.com), not a subfolder of yours.
What it looks like in practice

- Povidomlyaka — an English-language help center on its own domain
- Integrilla — a Russian-language help center migrated from Intercom
How the main tools compare
- Docsie includes unlimited portals on its $170/mo Premium plan, which makes it the cheaper option past 10 brands. See Multibase vs Docsie.
- GitBook prices per site, which suits developer docs for one product but adds up across brands. See Multibase vs GitBook.
- Zendesk and Intercom include multi-brand help centers on higher per-agent tiers, bundled with the rest of their support suites.

FAQ
What is the difference between multi-brand and multilingual? Multilingual means one brand in several languages. Multi-brand means several brands, each of which can also be multilingual.
Can brands share articles? On a multi-brand platform, yes. You write an article once and publish it to several portals, with per-brand changes where needed.
Do I need a separate domain for each brand? You don't have to, but customers trust a help center on the brand's own domain more, and it keeps each brand's search ranking separate.
What does it cost for 10 brands? On Multibase, $149/mo (Scale). Per-site tools usually cost several hundred dollars a month at that size; Docsie Premium is $170/mo with unlimited portals.
